Dance marathon
Welcome to explore many different dance styles on the festival’s opening day, June 8! The traditional dance marathon will take place on the stage at the Shopping center Minna (1st floor) from 12:00 to 15:30. Come join us to move, enjoy, and discover new dance styles!
Participation is free and does not require advance registration. Please bring comfortable/relaxed clothing, your own mat, a water bottle, and a towel.
Schedule and content:
Each session lasts approximately 25 minutes, with a 5-minute break between sessions.
12:00–12:25 | Taiji
We gently awaken the body through versatile exercises that open and calm, drawing from qigong, tai chi, Tao yoga, and meditation. Instructor: Tarmo Hakkarainen
12:30–12:55 | KundaDance – dance / Kundalini yoga / chakras / chi kung
KundaDance is a fun, uplifting dance through the chakras. It’s a holistic journey where you may notice your mind, body, and soul becoming harmonized, leaving you refreshed and energized. Instructor: Kaiju Savukoski
13:00–13:25 | Flamenco
In this session, you’ll dive into a Spanish atmosphere with expressive arm movements, footwork techniques, and captivating music. We’ll learn easy basic steps with a small twist—everyone can join in. Instructor: Riikka Iglesia Keurulainen
13:30–13:55 | Bachata
Bachata is enchanting dancers around the world and across Europe. It’s a soft yet versatile dance that can be done solo or with a partner. In the dance marathon, we’ll dance solo, practicing body movement, step patterns, and falling in love with the rhythm. Instructor: Riikka Iglesia Keurulainen
14:00–14:25 | Afro-Jazz
Afro-Jazz is energetic, relaxing, and rhythm-based. Your whole body gets to move freely, releasing unnecessary tension from both body and mind. Instructor: Sirpa Möksy
14:30–14:55 | Cuban Salsa
Cuban salsa is smooth and enjoyable for the body. Every cell in your body gets to move, while your mind is refreshed by positive and rhythmic music. Instructor: Barbado Ribalta
15:00–15:25 | Kiskoteka
The Kiskoteka method offers practical, short, and easy-to-follow body-based exercises that help you quickly influence your energy levels, self-regulation, and interaction with others. These exercises are easy to apply in everyday situations and incorporate into daily routines. Instructor: Elisa Suonmaa
Participants: please bring comfortable clothing, your own yoga mat, a water bottle and a towel.
